Happy Birthday to the greatest Pro Athlete of all time!

Well today is March 20, it the birthday of the greatest and most dominant pro athlete of all time. A man who 30 years after his retirement still is the best that ever played his game. That man is the one and only Bobby Orr. Orr’s was cut way to short due to multiple knee injuries. The great Gordie Howe had to say this about Orr’s early retirement Losing Bobby, was the greatest test blow the National Hockey League has ever suffered." Also sadly Orr didn't retire as a member of the Boston Bruins. He ended with the Chicago Blackhwaks. This is due to his good for nothing agent Alan Eagelson. It would be found out year later that Eagelson lied to Orr and many others about his dealing. Eagelson would be the first, and only, person to be kicked out of a professional hall of fame, and would end up in jail. So what made Orr so great? To this day Orr is the only defensemen to lead the NHL in scoring, This is the equivalent of a catcher winning the triple crown in baseball. He is a 3 time league MVP, 2 time Stanley Cup MVP, an 8 time Norris trophy winner as best defensemen in the NHL, he was the 1970 Sports Illustrated sportsmen of the year, The Boston Globe names him the greatest athlete in Boston history ahead of Bill Russell and Ted Williams. Orr was an incredible +124 in 1970-72, which is unheard of. Orr was the first rushing defensemen who could carry the puck from his own end to the other end with out being touched, then rush back to play some incredible defense. He was not afraid to hit, be hit, or even fight. If there is one athlete wish I has seen that I haven't, it would be with out a doubt Bobby Orr. I never got to see him play, but still know how great he is. I have the famous picture of Orr scoring the game winner in game 4 of the Stanley Cup in 1970, the one were is flying through the air. Orr is the type of athlete that doesn't come once a life time, but once a century. It will be a long time before the NHL or any league sees the likes of Orr. Orr made hockey huge in New England, and his effect is still seen today. So happy birthday Bobby, here is to many more
